About

The Crazy Tie Guy and family serve the Lord with their juggling, unicycling and stilt walking.  As a family, their faith is very important to their lives every day.  Their family mainly juggles in churches but has some amazing places where they’ve gotten to juggle…including juggling for the inauguration of the president of the United States, a Billy Graham crusade and on a Super Bowl Commercial!

Nathan studied engineering in college and then was called into the ministry and served NAMB as a missionary and then went to seminary for ministry training where he received his masters of divinity.  During this time in Texas at seminary, he continued to juggle at various venues and churches.  He eventually realized his calling was to follow Jesus with his family while juggling together to make a difference in the world.  Their family would love to come for your next amazing event!

THE STORY ABOUT THE TIE…I needed a costume for a church in 1997 that wanted me to juggle in Texas close to where I was going to seminary. I didn’t want a “clown” outfit, but I didn’t want to look like anyone else either. I wanted something simple that made me stick out in a good way…I decided on a tie…it would have to be crazy…because that’s what the guy at the church was looking for “wear something crazy for the kids.” So I sewed the tie onto the shirt that you will see in my practice video below that I recently (2024) found in my closet on a VHS tape.

When I got to the church and was being introduced, he looked over at me and forgot my name (you probably have too…but that’s ok.) He said, “Please welcome the Crazy Tie Guy.” I didn’t think anything about it…I went on and shared my juggling and told the kids about Jesus. Then at the next church the same thing happened…and I realized I had been given my name that people would remember, “The Crazy Tie Guy”. Not that I really want to be remembered, but it helps if people can find you later on when they want you back!  Who was that guy?  Oh yeah…the Crazy Tie Guy.

The practice below was my plan to do something different and fun at the 1998 IJA convention…but I never performed the routine because I did not make the cut…I had 2 drops while trying out and I was also glorifying God in my routine…in previous years, an IJA competitor had cursed God on stage and I felt it was my job to honor God and glorify Him there instead of what had been happening. Anyway, I never made it…and never performed the routine that I started working on here.  Remember, this is practice…a long time ago…I drop quite a few times while practicing and wound up pulling some of the tricks I tried here out and replacing them with better ones…but I didn’t get a VHS of that.  Here it is:
